Course Programme

WEEK 1: Exploring Colour Further
Using colour effectively is at the heart of watercolour painting. This session will give you the opportunity to explore the effects and range of colours to enhance your painting skills and develop your knowledge of colour.

WEEK 2: Loosening Up !
Not everything has to be painted realistically as you know from the various styles of watercolour artists! This session will give you the opportunity for using loose impressionistic strokes to paint your subject!

WEEK 3: Skies and Washes 1
Painting skies tend to excite and frustrate artists in equal measures! This session, and the following one, will give you the opportunity to practice painting skies through the application of various washes and techniques.

Week 4: Skies and washes 2
Painting skies is a big subject given the infinite combinations of clouds and colours! This week will be a continuation of the previous session and give you the opportunity to practice skies in various scenarios.

Week 5: Painting Water
Painting water often poses challenges for artists in their early days, however it is an exciting subject to paint! There are several watercolour techniques that can be used when painting water and this will give you the opportunity to practise and build confidence in applying these techniques.

Week 6: Painting with a limited palette
In this session we will look at painting with a limited selection of colours, which when combined can provide a tremendous array of colours and versatility in your painting. This session will be also be helpful in creating harmony and unity in your painting, and provide experience of mixing colours effectively.

Teaching Method: This course will take place via ZOOM with participants using their lap top or desk tops.
